Isaac Newton and the South Sea Company

0

Sir Issac Newton, one of the most brilliant minds of his time, effectively reduced to poverty at the age of 70 because of his decision to invest in the South Sea Company. This particular event, which he has been put in contact with, is explained by the close conjunction of Neptune with his II house (Orb:2°). Saturn is in a tight conjunction with V house and PL opposing the II are other relevant configurations.

The Neptune/PL opposition over the II/VIII was very productive for his research.

Neptune in contact with the second house can produce vain illusions in regards to ones material goals, unclear financial situations, or theft and deceit in regards to ones material possessions. Get-rich-quick schemes that end up in disaster. Such contacts could also indicate financial sensitivity in some of its positive forms.

What could be some basic strategies to counteract such a position? Inspect investments thoroughly and rigorously before placing your money into them, for one. Monitoring ones material possessions so that they do not get stolen, eroded, or go down in value.
